March 10 & 11, 2012

It was a gorgeous weekend here, so we spent it working on our Bus!  We removed the luggage top and camper top to sand them and get them ready for a fresh coat of paint.

 Cleaned off the top
The bumper was dented in on one side so we removed it to see if it could be fixed
We also removed the propane tank

Over the Winter

I am not a professional, but I like to sew.  I used the originals (tent/curtains) as my patterns.  My top-stitching is not great but works for us.  The fabric I'm using I had purchased years earlier but never got to the project because I was busy having and caring for my little angels.  It is a Sunbrella fabric
New Tent!

 Top cushions
 Back Cushion
The screen that goes in the back
 Back passenger seat
Painted the back of the back passenger seat.
These are the curtains for the sides and back windows
Bay window curtain.  Making sure everything fits correctly.  Added extra snaps so it will not droop across bay window
Made sure the cushions fit and snaps lined up
Working hard touching up.  The original tent is in the backround.

Here are some pictures of the inside.

The seats have seen better days but overall she is in great condition inside and out.
My new, to me, Bus!  I have always had a love for these little cuties.  My husband found out about a Bus Rally at the Natural Bridge Jellystone campground.  They were raffling off an orange VW Bus to benefit the Ronald McDonald House.  We bought a bunch of tickets in hopes  that we would be happily driving it home.  Well it wasn't meant to be, but where a door closes a window opens somewhere.   While walking around admiring everybody's buses we met a family that ended up living right down the road from us.  We started talking and it turned out they had a green bus for sale.   I have always loved the bus but never, ever thought I would ever have a chance to own one.  Everything just worked out perfectly.  In June 2011 we welcomed her into our family.  She is in great condition.  We are going to spruce her up and hopefully have her ready for camping in the fall of 2012.
